Sport Pilot License
An FAA license that allows you to pilot an aircraft with one passenger, in a single-engine aircraft, that weighs no more than 1320 lbs at take-off, during daylight hours, below the clouds, fly all the way up to 10,000 feet, and with the right endorsements added to your license you can fly into busy airports and eventually into complex airspace. As a Sport Pilot you will fly in VFR (Visual Flight Rules) and fly at night with a flight instructor or appropriately rated pilot on board and your LSA is certified for night flight. The Sport Pilot has the freedom to fly anywhere in the continental United States and those who love the beach get the unique privilege of flight to the Bahamas, or a peaceful day in the
mountains.

The Sport Pilot FAST-TRACK is an accelerated two week course that not only gets you to the FAA Sport Pilot Rating quickly, but prepares you for real world flying that you will experience after you achieve the license. Orlando Gateway Sport Pilot Center trains you to become a safe pilot, not just a licensed pilot through immersion training where you learn more than the average sport pilot. You will arrive at the campus with the included online ground school completed and the FAA written test completed and prepare for an incredible adventure that gives you the ultimate freedom, the freedom of flight. You will even fly instruments as part of the course, to assure you are an ultra-safe and ultra- prepared pilot. As with all of our courses we utilize the concept of immersion training where you learn more than the average sport pilot, and receive more training in the same amount of time and flights. You will even fly with reference to instruments only as part of the course, this assures you are an ultra-safe and ultra- prepared pilot.

Sport Pilot FAQ’s
What are the minimum requirements to apply for my sport pilot licensing?
- Completion of the FAA’s Sport Pilot Written Test.
- The FAA required endorsements by one of our certified flight instructors and a completed application to the FAA for the license.
- Completing at least the minimum aeronautical experience as required by FAA regulations. (Remember, this is the absolute minimum allowance by the FAA to apply for your license, and personal skill, study habits, and bad weather can mean a few more hours than the minimum for some sky-bound adventurers)
- 20 Total hours of flight time
- 15 Hours Dual Flight Instruction in Single-Engine airplanes
- 5 Hours solo flight time
- 10 Hours of Ground Briefs
- .5 Hours of flight by reference to instruments

Orlando Gateway Sport Pilot Centers selects Instructors on the basis of not only their flight or pilot skill or experience, but are selected on the basis of their interpersonal skills, teaching and instructional abilities, and are continuously standardized to commercial pilot standards. Instructors are required to attend a minimum of 3 continuing education events with the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) per year. Each Flight or Ground Instructor at Orlando Gateway Sport Pilot Center is at minimum, an expert in aviation safety and flight instruction.
